★What's an SGM?

A Special General Meeting (SGM) has been called by the USASA Board pursuant to 14.1 of the USASA Constitution to provide an opportunity for USASA members (UniSA Students) to come together and vote on some important matters regarding the future of the Student Association and transition to Adelaide University. 

★When?

Tuesday 28 October, 5:30pm ACDT

★Where?

City West Campus, Room: H5-26

(Hawke Building - 55 North Tce, Adelaide)

★What's on the agenda?

The meeting will have the following agenda:

  • Approval of business transfer to Adelaide University Student Association Inc (AUSA)
  • Approval of business closure arrangements for University of South Australia Student Association Inc (USASA) [special resolution]
  • Nomination of AUSA as successor organisation of USASA

★How do I participate?

  • Attending in person: Members attending in person will count towards quorum and can vote on each motion during the meeting. 
  • Attending online: Members who can't make it in person are welcome to attend the online stream of the meeting via Microsoft Teams. However, due to the strict wording in the USASA Constitution (and the legislation that governs Incorporated Associations), only members attending in person will count towards the quorum and be allowed to vote. Members attending online are can proxy their vote to another member who is attending in person.
  • Can't attend: Members who can't make it are allowed to proxy their vote another member who is attending in person.

Whether you're intending on coming online or in person, we kindly as that you let us know using the button below that you're coming. Pre-registering your attendance is essential for online participation so we know where to send you the Teams link. 

No one will be denied entry in person for not pre-registering, but letting us know beforehand ensures that we have things set up appropriately for the size of the meeting.

★What does it mean to "proxy" my vote and how do I do it?

  • When you proxy your vote, you are formally permitting another member to exercise your vote on your behalf. You want them to be someone you trust. 

  • Procedure for submitting a proxy:
    • To proxy your vote, you must fill out the specified form by Monday 27 October at 5pm and nominate the fellow USASA member that you want to hold your vote. 
    • You will be required to state the full name, student email address, and student ID of both yourself and the nominated proxy. 
    • Late proxies will not be accepted. The deadline is to ensure that we can validate the student status of all members with campus central prior to the meeting. 
    • USASA Staff will email a receipt to you and your proxy within 1 working day of receiving your proxy request.
