UniSA Psychology Society x Salty Sips – Winter Edition
Join us this winter as the UniSA Psychology Society takes part in Salty Sips, a community wellness initiative run by Human.Kind. Wake up early and start your morning with yoga on the sand, a rejuvenating dip in the ocean, and a warm coffee and conversation afterward. It’s the perfect way to shake off the cold, connect with community, and prioritise your mental wellbeing.
We attended Salty Sips last year and we loved it so much, we’re making it a tradition! While Salty Sips is not run by the Psychology Society, we will be attending as a group so please make sure you register so that we know to look out for you!
Here's a couple of reasons why we think it's worth joining us (other than the fact that you get to hang out with us... ha ha)
-
Yoga Reduces stress and anxiety: Regular yoga practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces cortisol levels.
-
Yoga also enhances mood and emotional regulation: Movement, breathwork, and mindfulness foster positive mood and resilience. Yoga also supports focus, memory, and restful sleep- key ingredients for student wellbeing.
-
Cold water exposure stimulates the release of endorphins and dopamine: Cold dips can trigger a natural mood lift and increased alertness.
-
Brief cold exposure builds stress resilience: It activates the body's stress response in a controlled way, improving our ability to handle real-world stress.
What to Bring:
-
Yoga mat or towel
-
Swimsuit and towel for the ocean dip
-
Warm clothes for after (layers encouraged!)
-
Money for coffee afterwards
-
An open mind and a willingness to get salty
We look forward to seeing you all there!!
