You and I know this all to well but I'll say it anyway, university student's have it tough. Whilst we must acknowledge how fortunate we are to access a tertiary education, finding time to balance all of life commitment's whilst trying to navigate the climate crisis and cost of living pressures we face currently is really challenging. It is even more challenging when university students are not listened to and respected by those in power, a harsh reality that will continue without representation from and advocacy for university students. This is why the National Union of Students is so crucial and something I want to be a part of. These issues are particularly relevant for us UniSA students today as we face a merger with the University of Adelaide, and other evolving obstacles including: mental and physical health, the implementation of AI into study and the workforce, exorbiant rent for accommodation, and the new legislation around international students in Australia currently being developed. Whether or not you vote for me is of course up to you and does not truly matter to me because either way, with or without an official position we must band together to support one another and navigate these issues we face as one.
When I’m not studying for my bachelor’s degree in social work or working in the residential care space, I’ll usually be watching movies, cooking or baking, playing video games and sports like soccer and rugby. Otherwise, I’ll be volunteering or attending one of the many UniSA events and clubs.
