Description

Our mission
To provide an inclusive, safe, fun, engaging campus environment, and bring representation to students of diverse genders, sexes and sexualities at the University of South Australia. Our predecessor club UniSA Pride started in 2010, but after a period of inactivity it was revived in late 2015 as the University of South Australia Rainbow Club. With a small but dedicated committee, and some lofty goals, we’ve worked hard to build our reputation as a club that wants to improve queer student services and events at UniSA:

❀️ A queer voice in USASA student representation
🧑 Autonomous spaces on-campus for queer folks to relax in a safe environment
πŸ’› A university counsellor with training and speciality in providing counselling to queer students
πŸ’š Easier student access to organisations offering sexual health advice & external queer-friendly counselling
πŸ’™ Inclusive university policies to protect students and staff from discrimination
πŸ’œ Maintaining an Ally Network of queer-friendly staff members who can provide support to queer students

Need help?
We're 100% run by queer students, so we understand the sensitive nature of the issues that you may have experienced such as:
❀️ Coming out as queer
πŸ’› Finding like-minded friends
πŸ’š Personal, moral, and religious conflict
πŸ’™ Questioning your gender identity and sexuality
πŸ’œ Relationship challenges
We can provide a connection to appropriate services such as QLife, but we're also happy to answer queries and concerns via email or social media DMs. We understand that not everyone would like to be personally identified; we always respect people's privacy and confidentiality. A useful list of university and external services are provided in our brochures downloadable here (also available in Arabic, Mandarin and Spanish). It's okay if you’re not open about your sexuality or gender identity, you're still welcome to attend our events - let us know if you'd like more info about an event and we'll do everything we can to make it a comfortable experience. Please send us an email or private message on our social media.

Ally Network
We want a University community where all students, staff and visitors feel safe, supported and empowered to be who they are. Sadly, sometimes this isn't everyone's experience. For this reason we've partnered with the Student Engagement Unit at UniSA to establish the Ally Network. If you've experienced issues relating to harassment due to your sexuality, sex or gender, and feel comfortable discussing your concerns, we'll link you up with a staff member who will listen without judgement or assumption to work towards getting a good outcome.

Executive Committee
You can join the committee by nominating for a position at the Annual General Meeting in April, or at a Special General Meeting where a casual vacancy has arisen or a new executive role has been created. Check our meeting minutes for current committee members.
