Get to know Women in STEM's Treasurer, Vinola. Read on to find out what the role entails and how you can be a part of the unique and wonderful things the club does.
1. What club are you in? Women in STEM UniSA
2. Are there any additional clubs that you are involved with?
Nope.
3. What are you studying? Did it influence the club you joined?
I am doing my Masters in Health Services Management. I think rather than what I am studying, "what I am now" actually influenced me to chose the club.
4. Why did you join this club?
I wanted to be in a place where being a woman is fine; empowering each other is a common culture and sharing ideas is a well-known practice. That is why I joined the Women in STEM club.
5. What's your role on the club executive? Explain.
I am the treasurer of my club. My job is to maintain the club's account and make sure we are not spending more amount than we have. Besides that, processing the reimbursements after events.
6. What's the best thing about being a part of a club?
The best thing is being a "part" of the club itself. The sense of belonging not just with the club but with the members in it. Trusting each other on the divided tasks and working together for the common cause.
7. How can other students get involved in your club?
Other students can be involved in our club through various club events. They can drop their club ideas via the suggestion box on the Women in STEM club webpage. They can follow us on our social media platforms and participate in the workshops and seminars for their professional development.
8. Have you gained new friends or made new connections through being in a club?
Yes, I have made new friends and connections through being in a club.
9. What achievement are you most proud of?
I was the vice president for my undergraduate university back then. Besides that, I consider coming to Australia to pursue my dreams after two years of struggle is the proudest achievement.
10. What colour best represents your personality and why?
I think sky blue represents my personality. It is polite, yet vase, clear yet confused, charming yet have thunders.
11. What would you like to get out of being in a club?
Without a doubt, leadership and organising skills. Furthermore, learning and experiencing the various circumstances through networking.
12. If you could start any club what would it be?
If I could start any club. I would start a dance club with a mental health awareness to embrace our own body regardless of what society impose on us.
