Throughout the month of June, the Rainbow Community celebrates in a number of different ways. This year, USASA is joining with UniSA Rainbow Club to recognise and celebrate UniSA students and staff in the DGSS – Diverse Genders, Sexes and Sexualities community.
Pride Month is so important because it marks the start of huge change within the Rainbow Community, as well as the wider societal implications. Although attitudes and injustice still remain, we have come a long way since the riots of 1969 and by continuing in this long-standing tradition we continue to raise awareness, improve the attitudes of society and encourage inclusiveness #Pride2022
Read on to find out how we are celebrating pride within the UniSA community and how you can get involved.
Are you or someone within your inner circle a part of the Rainbow Community?
USASA recognises the importance of acknowledging and sharing positive experiences and wants you to express your experience by sharing a story, poetry, artwork or photo that shows appreciation for your friends, family and community.
Here's how you can get involved:
1. Create your piece
2. Share it with us - let us know if you would like to be credited or anonymous
3. Outline the number one aspect that attributes a positive experience
4. That's it! Leave it with us and we will share your stories on our social media pages.
Submit your entry here. Submissions close Monday 27 June, at 9 am.
We are so excited to showcase your work. Remember, you are always deserving of positive relationships and experiences!
